E.J. Reedy
FOUNDER AND CEO
E.J. Reedy's expertise in ecosystem building is not just a professional pursuit but a personal passion. His journey began behind the counter of his grandmother's shop, where he learned that every business is part of an ecosystem and a community that are ever-changing and evolving. He'd take this insight and a passion for understanding economics and science and sow the seeds of his life-long work helping to nurture and grow science-based innovation ecosystems.
With a rich tapestry of experience spanning over two decades in economic development, philanthropy, academia, and venture capital, E.J. has consistently pioneered new models for supporting entrepreneurs and building thriving innovation ecosystems. From pioneering expanded benchmarks for entrepreneurship while at the Kauffman Foundation to spearheading the Polsky Small Business Bootcamp during the COVID-19 pandemic, E.J. has proven his ability to design and execute diverse programming that can meet the needs of the moment as well as build towards long-term engagement and change.
E.J.'s is a sought-after expert in the field but also a recognized one. His work has been featured in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, and he has collaborated with prestigious organizations like the OECD and the World Bank.
A self-described 'recovering economist addicted to creating ecosystems,' E.J. holds a master's in managerial economics from Northwestern University. His academic background, coupled with his career experiences from the Federal Reserve to the Kauffman Foundation, the University of Chicago's Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Portal Innovations, and now to Intentional Gravity, have helped E.J. to find commonalities across different tech verticals and underserved markets. By taking a people-first approach, he creates active ecosystems with successful companies and happier employees.
